Social Sub-Committee

  • Regular catering needs: weekly coffee rota; refreshments after special services (eg Carol Service, Harvest Lunch); refreshments during concerts and occasional external meetings held at St Nicholas’ (eg Deanery Synod).
  • Social events: organise regular events such as plant sale, fairs, quizzes etc; plan and organise new or special events, especially any big fund-raising events.
  • Decide priorities: Is the purpose of an event purely social or is it largely fund-raising? What balance do we want between the two? Who is it for?
  • Liaise with organisers of community events (eg Music Festival, exhibitions etc).
  • Liaise with Worship and Mission Sub-committee regarding social/catering implications of any activities promoting external links, mission and outreach.
  • Foster fellowship within all parts of the church, publicise events and any help needed, in order to involve more people in organising, catering and having fun.
